Halloween night was spent with the Farrow cousins and some of their friends; we did a potluck dinner then went trick-or-treating around their neighborhood. The girls were hilarious - running from house to house, trying to get as much candy as they could. They didn't quite understand they only needed to knock a few times then wait for it to be opened -they just kept knocking and yelling "Trick-or-Treat" until it was opened. I was completely mortified at one home as AK decided it was taking far too long for the person to answer, and decided she was going to open the door herself. Luckily, the homeowner was right there...and he seemed to get a pretty good laugh out of it. Roo wanted to eat as much candy along the way as she could, which is totally against the Trick-or-Treating rules of Halloween, but every time I took a piece of candy out of her mouth, two more were put right back in. It was a never-ending battle, and I finally gave in and let her eat a Toostie Pop. I'm still having to learn what battles to fight - that was a battle I lost from the beginning.
All-in-all, we had a wonderful Halloween. It was great to have Doug with us for the night, to hang out with some of our cousins, and to have an all-around good time. The girls had a blast - getting the best of both worlds - jungle animals by day, princesses by night. Halloween doesn't get any better than that!!
